Pentart Moss Effect Paste is a water-based and designed to imitate  the look and feel of natural moss. It dries to a dimensional, textured and is available in two shades of green. The paste should be expanded using heat to create a 3-D look.

When To Use:

  • To add realistic moss textures to mixed media art, home décor, or altered art projects.
  • Ideal for fairy gardens, woodland-themed crafts, or vintage-inspired pieces.
  • Perfect for aging or “mossing” the base of statues, planters, picture frames, or furniture.
  • Great for seasonal projects like spring, Easter, or Halloween decorations.

How to Use It

  1. Prepare Your Surface: Make the surface is clean and dry. Pentart Moss Effect Paste sticks well to various materials, including wood, MDF, glass, metal, and canvas.
  2. Apply the Paste: Use a palette knife, brush, or sponge to apply the paste. For a more natural look, dab or stipple the paste onto the surface.
  3. Create Texture: While the paste is still wet, use a heat gun to gently warm the area. This will cause the paste to puff up, enhancing its moss-like texture. Be careful not to overheat.
  4. Add Color Variations: Once dry, you can shade the moss effect using matte acrylic paints in colors like lime, olive, or pine green to add depth.
  5. Optional Finishing Touches: For a softer, velvety texture, sprinkle Pentart Velvet Powder onto the wet paste before it dries. Allow the project to dry completely before handling or sealing.

Pro Tips

  • Layer different shades of Pentart Moss Effect Paste to achieve a more natural, varied appearance.
  • Combine with Pentart Grass Effect Paste or Stone Effect Paste for added dimension.
  • Protect your finished project with a sealer.
  • Pentart pastes should not go down your drain. Clean your brush as much as possible before rinsing.
