What it is

A thick, two-component paste system that dries with deep, visible cracks for a weathered, aged texture. Comes in black or white but you can tint it to create your own color.

How to use it

  • Prep surface with a base color or decoupage layer. Let dry.
  • Apply Cracking Primer (Component 1) – thin, even coat. Let it dry fully until clear.
  • Apply Cracking Paste (Component 2) – use a palette knife or brush. (the thinner you apply, the smaller cracks and the thicker you apply, the larger the cracks)
  • Cracks form only where primer is used
  • Let it air dry, the cracks will appear as it cures. The thicker areas take longer to dry.
  • Optional: Add wax, antique paste, or paint to highlight cracks.
  • Seal with a clear varnish to keep from cracking off

When to use it

Use when you want bold, dramatic cracks with texture—perfect for aged paint looks, vintage decor, or mixed media pieces.

Pro Tips

  • Use contrasting colors under the paste to make cracks stand out
  • Don’t forget the primer or it won’t crack!
  • Only apply to hard surfaces, paste dries hard and can flake on flexible surfaces
  • You can tint white paste with pigment pastes to create your own look.
  • Use through stencils for raised, crackled designs
  • For subtle cracks, dry with a hair dryer on low. For bold cracks, let air dry.
  • Cracking Paste and the Primer is sold separate. (You can use any compontent 1 as primer, all same formula or the Cracking Paste Primer)
